Nonstick Cookware Sets

Best Nonstick Cookware Sets

We have recommended three nonstick fry pans – the ceramic-coated Vinaroz, the Ozeri with GREBLON (a natural ceramic coating), and porcelain enamel cookware by Rachael Ray.  (Click here to see the post.)  In this post, we present the results of a survey of nonstick cookware sets.

PTFE/PFOA-Free

Our recommendations are limited to only those cookware sets that are declared PTFE-free and PFOA-free.  In our opinion, unless the manufacturer makes such a declaration, we are not willing to recommend the cookware to the consumer.  After all, there are several reputable brands of PTFE- and PFOA-free cookware.  Why run the risk of Teflon toxicity?

Positive User Experience

We have also restricted our survey to those nonstick cookware sets that have been rated very highly by reviewers.  We have noticed some new products that are toxin-free, but we will not make a recommendation until we have the benefit of user experience.

Ozeri 3 Piece Frying Pan Set

Once again, we like Ozeri and the GREBLON ceramic cookware.  It is even recommended for induction stoves – a common issue with users.  GREBLON is completely natural.  We would encourage everyone to read the Product Description if you have any doubts about this cookware.  With a rating of 4+ stars by over 100 reviewers, this 3-piece frying pan set is a great value.

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel Cookware Set

Rachael Ray is making a name as a brand of reliable, attractive, and highly-functional cookware.  We have recommended Rachael Ray cookware in several posts and will do so here.  Once again, the experience of reviewers cannot be denied.  Perhaps the best feature of this nonstick cookware set, besides the price, is the fact that porcelain enamel cookware is durable.  Just like the Lodge porcelain enamel Dutch ovens that we also highly recommend, porcelain enamel cookware by Rachael Ray never disappoints.

Cheap Cookware Set – Not Recommended

So tempting!  The price of a Wearever Ceramic Coating Cookware Set is so appealing.  We decided to not even provide the link, unless you too might be tempted.   And they claim that it is free of PTFE and PFOA!   However, as always, we err on the side of safety and a few of the reviewers reported a breakdown in the ceramic cooking surface.  Reports of leaching of substances into the cooking liquid or the release of gases are just mind-boggling!

Recommended with Reservations

Lastly we have the Cuisinart GreenGourmet line of ceramic cookware.  We will refer you to our previous post and will allow you to make that call.  (See Cuisinart Cookware Review)  We applaud Cuisinart for attempting to do what Ozeri has apparently done.  We only wish that the user experience was more consistent.  Users complain that the initial performance of the Cuisinart ceramic cookware is superb, but after a few months the cooking surface loses it nonstick character.  We will continue to monitor this situation.
